Parque Fundadores commemorates the Founders of Playa Del Carmen and is a significant historical location within the city. Originally a community gathering spot where residents obtained their water, food and basic living essentials, this seaside location was the market hub for the then small village. As the population grew and the city expanded, the park evolved into a center for entertainment and events, with local businesses and vendors setting up shop around this central point.

The current Municipal President, Prof. Roman Quian, has brought life back into this important community area and rejuvenated the site under the program ‘Rescate de los Sitos Publicos’. Playa del Carmen’s only beachfront park has been thoughtfully renovated to include public seating and shade, a play area for children and their families and a beautiful bandstand. The local vendors have remained, selling their wares, just as they have for generations.

Taste of Playa 2009 will be held in this public area, Parque Fundadores, to celebrate all that is Playa del Carmen; its people, its government and those who choose it as a vacation destination. It is our honour to contribute to the traditions and history of Playa Del Carmen with this event.

We encourage you to take public transportaion to the event:

• There is a large public parking lot located behind the bus station on Juarez between 5th and 10th Avenue.
  
• There is a taxi bay located on the corner of Juarez and 5th Avenue to make getting to and from the event easy and hassle free.
• The ADO bus station is located on the opposite corner of the taxi bay on Juarez and 5th Avenue.
• There is a Colectivo bay located on 2nd Street between 10th and 15th Avenue.

There are several public parking lots throughout Playa del Carmen if you choose to take your vehicle to the event:

• On the corner of 10th Avenue and 2nd Street.
• At Paseo del Carmen Mall located on 10th Avenue between the Playacar Phase 1 entrance and 1st Avenue South.
• On the corner of 10th Avenue and 10th Street.
